Tattoo Tuesday – Claudia Bradshaw

SydTatTWO

This is some hot off the presses Tattoo Tuesday Ink from Claudia. She got this tattoo yesterday.  Thanks for sharing Claudia, your five questions start now:

1.   How old were you when you got your first tattoo? I got my first tattoo when I turned 18.  My best friend and I walked into a shop and pointed to a kanji in a book that said it meant ‘Wild’ and told them to stick it on us.  As soon as the needles hit my skin I knew I was going to be addicted.  While all of my ink is special to me I’m in the process of covering up my very first one as what it represents isn’t a part of who I am anymore and it is terribly faded.  When we are done I’ll have a beautiful pinup mermaid across my back.

2.     How many tattoos do you have? If only one, do you want more? I’d say my most meaningful tattoo is the memorial piece I had done for my grandparents.  Shortly after I lost my grandfather, who was my favorite person and an avid bird watcher, I heard the song Birds by Neil Young on the radio and these lyrics helped me with his loss “When you see me Fly away without you Shadow on the things you know Feathers fall around you And show you the way to go.” and so I wanted something to remind me that they were still there with me even though they were gone… So I got two birds flying through forget-me-not flowers.

3.     What inspired you to get your first tattoo or favorite tattoo?  Tell me your tattoo story. It took me a long time, and 5 different shops, to finally find the artist that was perfect for me.  When I walked into Cathedral Tattoo Co. I knew it was a match made in heaven.  I’ve received the majority of my ink within those walls and I’ll continue to add to my collection there.

4.     Tattoos on a significant other, like or dislike? Explain why? My husband also has a growing collection of sexy ink flowing over his skin.  We both go to the same artist and we schedule our sessions back to back spending all night at the shop.

5.     Do the character’s in your books have tattoos? If so, pick a character and tell me his or her tattoo story? Why was this story incorporated in the book?  In Sin For Love (Fortune For Love #1) Reese does have a sleeve covering one of his arms, and while it is sexy it isn’t a big part of the story.  Now in Fortune For Love #2 (which doesn’t have a title yet) there is a character with a large tattoo that is very much a part of the story…

M., welcome to Tattoo Tuesday. Your five questions start now:

1.   How old were you when you got your first tattoo? I was a late bloomer, I was twenty-nine.

2.     How many tattoos do you have? If only one, do you want more? I currently have eight, but more in the works.

3.     What inspired you to get your first tattoo or favorite tattoo?  Tell me your tattoo story. I got two tattoos my first time. One is a daisy, since it is one of my favorite flowers, and then a seashell, because some of my family and friends call me Shel.

My first, the daisy, I added the ladybug a couple of years later.

4.     Tattoos on a significant other, like or dislike? Explain why?  I don’t like, I love. My husband has four, and he wants a few more which is totally fine with me!

5.     Do the character’s in your books have tattoos? If so, pick a character and tell me his or her tattoo story? Why was this story incorporated in the book?  Lexi’s tattoo is a Phoenix raising from the ashes on her back. She put it there to remind herself of all the healing she did to get to where she is and to say that she’s got her back. The complete reason why is in After the Storm.

Stratton is an International Amazon bestselling author in the romantic suspense and mystery suspense categories for her debut novel After the Storm. She is a self-proclaimed dork that loves to make people laugh and can trip over nothing. Her inner rock star is always on stage performing to a sold out crowd but is quiet and shy on the outside.

She lives with her husband and son in Arizona, which is a big difference from where she grew up north of Chicago Illinois. As an only child she learned to tell herself stories to make the long winters go by quicker while dreaming of summer vacations. Now as an adult she still makes up stories to pass the time, but now she writes them down to share with other people.

Tattoo Tuesday – Lori L. Clark

SydTatTWO

I’m excited to feature a talented writer and one of the bloggers behind one of my favorite blogs, She Reads New Adult. Lori, welcome to Tattoo Tuesday. Your five questions start now:

1.  How old were you when you got your first tattoo?  I was over 21…and as soon as I got one, I was ready for another.

2.  How many tattoos do you have? If only one, do you want more?  I have seven, and I’m always thinking about getting another.

3.  What inspired you to get your first tattoo or favorite tattoo?  Tell me your tattoo story.  My first tattoo. Hmm. It just seemed like the thing to do at the time. It was not well thought out at all. It was a heart with a lightning bolt through it, about the size of a quarter. It’s since been covered up with something larger. Since then, the tattoos have become more planned. My latest is a saying in Latin that translates to “Time Waits for No Man.” My favorite is a line from a Motley Crue song, “My heart’s like an open book for the whole world to read.” It’s done inside a scroll on my lower left leg.

4. Tattoos on a significant other, like or dislike? Explain why? I love tattoos on men. Not just one or two that they are ashamed of…but ones that they wear proudly. Intricately designed and well done.

5. Do the character’s in your books have tattoos? If so, pick a character and tell me his or her tattoo story? Why was this story incorporated in the book?  In my upcoming book, The Heart Knows What the Heart Wants, the main character, Star, she has two tattoos. The planet Neptune on the back of her right hand and the words “The Heart Knows What the Heart Wants” tattooed over her heart. She dabbles in astrology and is a Pisces. Neptune rules Pisces, so she got the planet Neptune. The saying, is something she believes and something she learns from the young man in her life. (It may just be my next tattoo, as well.)

About Lori:  In 2009, after participating in NANOWRIMO, she began to take seriously the voices in her head. Two New Adult contemporary romance novels, Different Roads, and I Breathe You, were published in 2013, and showed early success. The Heart Knows What the Heart Wants is set to release in March 2014, and has her venturing into the realms of Romantic Suspense.

Lori is a member of Savvy Authors, the St. Louis Writers Guild, and Romance Writers of America.

Tattoo Tuesday – Jade Eby

SydTatTWO

Jade, welcome to Tattoo Tuesday. Your five questions start now:

1.  How old were you when you got your first tattoo?  I was just a youngin when I got my first tattoo — 18.

2.  How many tattoos do you have? If only one, do you want more? Right now I have 7 tattoos and I’m already planning my next one! I am *slightly* obsessed with ink and if I could, I’d be totally covered in them. I don’t have pictures of them all, but I have one on my foot, two on my stomach, one on my hip, a full rib piece on my right side, a small tattoo on my upper left rib cage and a half sleeve.

3.  What inspired you to get your first tattoo or favorite tattoo?  Tell me your tattoo story. My first tattoo is very special as I got it with my sister and she actually hadn’t turned 18 yet so my parents signed a waiver so we could them done together. It’s the same tattoo just on opposite sides of our feet. It’s a Celtic knot with our initials. We grew up best friends and it was so cool to do something that signified our closeness. Even though it wasn’t *that* long ago that I got it, it feels like eons ago and I hardly remember whether it hurt or not.FootBut my favorite tattoo is my most recent one. I’d been really thinking about a special tattoo for a while but I promised myself I would not get it until I published my first book. And honestly, I thought it would never happen.

Except it did.
So I decided to follow through on my promise. I found a fantastic artist near me, Cory Abernathy at Rubber Monkey Tattoo Shop and he took my idea and turned it into a magnificient replication of my imagination. The phoenix on my upper arm (when it’s done will be a half sleeve) is gorgeous. Full of all my favorite colors and so vivid. It’s representative of not just the trials I’ve overcome in my life but particularly important to my writing life. Because as a writer, I don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to give up. But every time I come up against an obstacle, I break down the walls and get back to it. It’s also a Harry Potter reference because, well, I’m a Harry Potter nerd 🙂

My third tattoo, which is a cancer ribbon, is very near to me as I have many family members that have been diagnosed with cancer. It’s on my ribs to remind me just how close to the heart cancer survivors are to me. CancerRibbon

4. Tattoos on a significant other, like or dislike? Explain why?   I LOVE tattoos, period. So the fact that my husband has some is just natural. He has one on his back and he’s working on a half sleeve which I find incredibly sexy. He has these great arms too, so when it’s finished, it’s going to look badass.

5. Do the character’s in your books have tattoos? If so, pick a character and tell me his or her tattoo story? Why was this story incorporated in the book?  I feel like characters with tattoos is getting to the point of cliche in books now. It seems like every time I pick up a book, the characters all have one. That’s cool though, because it’s showing how far our society has come in accepting them. That said — I do have a few characters that have tattoos. In my new novel, THE FINISH, one of my main characters has a sleeve of tattoos on both arms and I love the way it fits into her personality. She’s kind of crazy and wild but she’s completely unique and fresh in my eyes. I just love her to pieces.
