#IWSG – My Release Day

Huge thank you to the awesome co-hosts for the June 4 posting of the IWSG C. Lee McKenzie, Tracy Jo, Melanie Schulz, and LG Keltner!  Special shout out to our captain, Mr. Alex J. Cavanaugh. Make sure you visit them and as many of the support group as you can.

I’m not sure if I’m actually looking for advice. I’ve heard it all. I feel the need to share. In hopes that others have had this particular issue.

The night before my release, I posted on a FB Group how I didn’t think I would need a  peep talk prior to my book release, but later that night, I couldn’t sleep and it seemed like I was seconds away from an anxiety attack.

What was I so scared of, well, no sales. That’s what scared me. What if not one person bought my book. Ridiculous, I know.

Well, the first day went better then expected, but now I’m depressed again.

Anyone else experience the Book Release Blues? What did you do to get over it?

I also wanted to thank everyone who supported me during the release of my debut novel, Another New Life. I need to remind myself it’s not every day a person get’s to realize a dream. I am so grateful.

Insecure Writer’s Support Group – Control Issues – #IWSG

The awesome co-hosts for the May 7 posting of the IWSG will be Mark Koopmans, Joylene Nowell Butler, Elsie, and Lisa Buie-Collard! Make sure to visit them and say hello!

I have control issues. It’s the only way to explain why I freak out when things don’t go according to plan. It’s the reason I have been a pest to the people I’ve entrusted with certain parts of this production/marketing process for my novel. It’s the reason that I have to count to ten and take deep breaths before dealing with things that don’t happen or are cancelled.

I understand now why I am an indie author, because God knew I couldn’t handled turning my stuff over with no say in how it turns out in the end. I don’t care how much of an advance … ok, that’s not exactly true.

Anyway, I just wanted to reveal my control issues to the world, so people will be aware of why I react the way I do when things go wrong.  I am working on it, but if anyone has any tips on how to control (haha) my control issues, I would truly appreciate it.

Do you have control issues? How do you deal with them in this unpredictable and out of control world we live in?

I – It’s Cover Reveal Day

I’ve waiting a long time and it’s finally here. Wait, no. Not that. That’s still a few weeks away (June 2nd to be exact). But, this is just as good or at least good for right now.

When her talent wins her a piano scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin, Miranda arrives on campus determined to experience everything college has to offer and to keep her secrets in the past where they belong.

An easy task, until the first guy who catches her eye happens to be someone, she’s known all her life.

Eight years have passed since the last time Miranda and Troy saw each other. He reminds her of the best and worst times of her life, but she can’t think about one without dwelling on the other. As they grow closer, every day their attraction reminds them they are no longer kids.

The Great and Powerful Theme Reveal Bloghop

2014 A to Z Challenge

I can’t believe I’m going to do it. WriterlySam is asking me to reveal my super secret theme for 2014 A to Z Challenge. There is a certain commitment associated with revealing your theme ahead of time. I bet that is why she is making us do it.  Like once it’s out there, you kind of have to follow through and participate in A to Z. Well, here it goes.

My Theme for 2014 A to Z Challenge is Another New Life by Sydney Aaliyah Michelle. Yes, that’s me and that’s my debut novel. I am going to spend an entire month, 26th posts, telling you all about it.

I have a few interesting post all ready to go, like  B – By the numbers and K – Kiss. My personal favorite, I – It’s Cover Reveal Time when I reveal my cover. See what I did there. haha.

I figure by the end of the month, you will either be completely sick of it or you can’t wait to read it.

If the stars are aligned correctly and everything happens the way it’s supposed to happen between then and now, on May 1st, you can buy it.

Wish me luck! For more information on Another New Life, check it out on Goodreads.

There’s still time to sign up for the challenge, here.

Insecure Writer’s Support Group – Bliss

The awesome co-hosts for the March 5 posting of the IWSG are Tina Downey, Elsie, Elizabeth Seckman, and Julie Flanders!

Special shout out to my friend and yours, Alex J. Cavanaugh because IWSG wouldn’t not exist without him. Thank you, Captain!

I have been organizing, planning and practically nesting in anticipation of the birth of my debut novel (May 1st in case you want to mark it on your calendar). Every day, I am completing some new task that puts me one step closer and I have been in pre-publication bliss for a few days now, but . . .

I keep waiting for the ball to drop, for the s–t to hit the fan, for the bubble to bust. I want something bad to happen now while I still have time to fix it.

What were your biggest fears as you got closer to your due/publication date?
