Hope for Her – Top 10 Favorite Lines – #8

Through out the month of September I’d like to introduce you to the characters and my Top 10 favorite lines in Hope for Her.

FAVORITE LINES

Line #8:

In rehab, they preached the importance of establishing a routine. Do the same thing every day to develop positive habits and replace the bad ones with something less dangerous. They got it all wrong. The drug addiction wasn’t the dangerous habit; the habit of self-loathing and fear of not measuring up was much worse.

Josh had some challenges recently, but now he is ready to turn is life around. If he can find something or someone to keep him on the right path.

I battle this constantly as I’ve been trying to lose weight all summer. It’s all about replacing bad habits with something better for me.

What do you do to avoid temptation?

Sydney Reviews Irons by MJ Fields

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis:
JaxIrons
I was born and bred to be the man I am today. My father and his father were both graduates from The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Both went on to become helicopter pilots. Both had seen plenty of action. Both had met and caused devastation. Both men, who I respect more above all, had served and protected the United States and her people honorably for decades. My best friend, William Cruz, who attended the academy with me, had flown beside me, had lived the same life as I had and shared the same ambitions in life, was gone now. This was not part of the plan. Will and I were supposed to have each other’s backs, support each other and never let anything supersede our bond.
Francesca

I sat on Norfolk Beach needing to feel close to him on the anniversary of his death. It was a beautiful day in May and I was cutting class. I had done the same every year since he passed.

Jaxson Irons was only supposed to be in Pensacola for a year. But now three years later I still hadn’t heard from him. I saw a man running down the beach and I knew immediately who it was.

Jaxson didn’t respond the way I had dreamed he would. He told me we would catch up someday soon. I stood and watched until he was gone.
Thump, thump. I placed my hand on my chest as I felt my heart beat again for what felt like the first time in three years. Thump, thump. I felt the blood moving quickly through my body. Its heat once again present. Thump, thump. I looked up at the sky and let out a breath. A breath that I had been holding forever. Thump, thump.

I felt tears fall down my face as I raised my hands in the air and laughed out loud. Just then the clouds parted for the first time in forever. I saw the sun smiling down on me.

Review:
The only problem I had with this book is it ended way too soon. I needed more and am a little annoyed with MJ Fields for ending it when she did.  I have to wait for book #2 & #3 or how every many the author decides to give us. Honestly, she could give us #100 and I will still read this amazing romance between these two complex characters.
I loved the story concept at it’s core. Chalked full of drama from the beginning, you care for these two characters immediately. Who says solid relationships can’t develop out of tragedy.
The story had quite a lot of suspense, which was unexpected, but flowed well into this angst filled and emotional love story.
The dynamic between Jax & Francesca can be a little frustrating, but it only adds to the enjoyment of the story. Stick with them, it’s worth it.
If you like your sexy on the intense side, you won’t be disappointed.
Can’t wait to see this story continue.

Hope for Her – Top 10 Favorite Lines – #9

Through out the month of September I’d like to introduce you to the characters and my Top 10 favorite lines in Hope for Her.

Carrington Olivia Butler

FAVORITE LINES

Line #9 – Chapter Two:

I considered my high school experience normal, in the strictest scene of the word: normal activities, normal parties, and normal boyfriend. My girls and I infiltrated the cool kids club occasionally. My junior year, I caught the attention of Matt Brennan. His popularity extended to me due to our relationship, and I held popular girl status by association until graduation.

Carrington spent her life living in the shadow of her more successful siblings, but now she is ready to shine. I can related. My brother lives a charmed life and I have to remind myself we just took different paths.

Do you have a sibling who’s life seemed a lot easier then yours?

Hope for Her – Top 10 Favorite Lines – #10

My second novel comes out on October 1st and I am super excited because it’s a unique story and it takes place at my alma mater, FSU (Go Noles!) and it has some intense moments and it’s the first book in a SERIES.

I wasn’t sure I could write a series because let’s face it, I have the attention span of a two year old, but I did it. And, I love it. I hope you do, too.

Through out the month of September I’d like to introduce you to the characters and my Top 10 favorite lines in Hope for Her.

Josh Griffin

FAVORITE LINES

Line #10 – Chapter One:

“Yeah, FU’s PKP’s snort pixie dust and sit in a smokehouse in the backyard singing old Negro spirituals.” I collapsed into the nearest leather chair. “Hey, but, we’re all brothers. No matter where I pledged, right?”

I stared at him, waiting for his answer.

“We are brothers.” Jackson stood up. I followed and relaxed knowing he meant more than our fraternity connection. I missed my oldest friend.

While this is a love story, I had the opportunity to explore this relationship between my male MC (Josh)  and his best friend (Jackson). This is also the first book I’ve written in duel POV from the female and male MC. Challenging, but it had to be done and I had to maintain it through out the series. My beta readers said I did a good job with making the voices so distinct, they never got confused (Wipes the sweat from my brow).

Do you like duel POV or would you rather hear from one POV through out?

She does this every day. Without fail. Dr. Blake just doesn’t fit into her schedule. Until he does. Until Callie begins to trust him. Until she starts to need him. And want him. And . . .

Checked Promo 1

Excerpt:

Calista. That quiet voice pulls me around yet again.

I freeze. He’s looking at me. Sorrowful eyes…heavy…inconsolable. A tragedy in blue.

I can’t look away. I begin to feel a dull ache in my left side. {Damien Rice fills my head with “The Blower’s Daughter.”}

His eyes hold mine. They are relentless. The sharpening pain in my side weighs me down, cementing my shoes to their place on the floor. My lips part slightly as my body tries to remember to breathe.

In slow motion almost, he releases me, closing his eyes and clenching them shut. The blue eyes that open back up to me are hard, stony.

He swiftly spins his chair to grab the box of tissues on his bookshelf. Without meeting my eyes, he turns back around and holds the box out to me.

To help you out of here, he says in an almost inaudible voice. What?

Th-thank you, I stammer. I clutch my purse and take six slow steps toward his desk. Three steps at a time. One two three. One two three.

He stares past me, blankly looking at the door. I pull three white tissues from the box he’s holding and turn back to his point of focus. When I get to the silver doorknob, I quickly cover it with the three tissues spread out in my left hand.

And I’m out.
