Butterman (Time) Travel, Inc. Blogfest and Cover Reveal

Butterman600x900I am super excited to co-host the Butterman (Time) Travel, Inc. Blogfest and Cover Reveal with the author of this New Adult, Time Travel, Romance Adventure, PK Hrezo.

Join PK Hrezo, Tammy TheriaultMichael Di Gesu, & me and book your Time (Travel) Adventure today.

I was torn between traveling into the past or experiencing something new in the future. The unknown future would be more anxiety inducing, so I would like to go back in time and witness a historically significant event.

I have been adding to my TBR list books written during the Harlem Renaissance. I would like to spend a weekend in Harlem between 1920 to 1930.  I would book a room on Striver’s Row and offer a shy curtsy to Mr. Langston Hughes as I strolled the streets of Harlem in search of other famous residents such as Marcus Garver and novelist Countee Cullen.

I’d spend a lazy Saturday afternoon at The Lenox Lounge and flirt with Mr. John Coltrane by telling him how much I loved his music. I’d enjoy my coffee and attempted to read my Claude McKay novel, but it’s quite difficult when he’s sitting on a small stool hunched over a table in the corner. I can’t stop watching his shoulders as they tense and relax to a rhythm he must hear only in his head.  He scribbles into a small notebook and chain smokes while downing one expresso after another.

I could watch forever, but I head back to my room for a short nap. Tonight’s going to be a long one. We start with dinner and dancing at The Cotton Club and if I don’t brake an ankle or pass out from dancing we’d end at the Savoy Ballroom drunk crying in our sherry while while feeling every last melancholy melodic note out of Billie Holiday mouth.

When I make it back to my room, I collapse and experience the night all over again, in restless dreams. I’d wake and dress in haste as I grabbed the last of the fresh baked loafs from a street vendor while strutting down the street on my way to the Harlem Suitcase Theatre to catch Mr Hughes’s latest production.

I’m So Sick of Words by Elise Fallson – I read this post a few times this week. So relatable. Sometimes that’s how I feel about writing.

#JuNoWriMo Post to Ponder

Sarah Chafin: #JuNoWriMo Interview by Fel Scotzig – See how Sarah combats writer’s block.

Coolest Thing

17667605The debut novel by Alessandra Thomas. I loved it. It was the coolest thing I read last week. I started it on Friday morning and had to finish it before going to bed on Saturday night.  It is a New Adult Romance where the heroine has body issues and the hero has a past to overcome and they have some really great sex scenes in the mix.  I don’t review books, but I do recommend. I loved this book.  Click on the book if your interested in purchasing this great read.

My Weekly Update – JuNoWriMo

JuNoWriMo

It is that time of year, again; JuNoWriMo. This writing challenge is very special to me because it was this time last year that I wrote my first full length novel. I also meet some great blogging writers who are actually active in all stages of this writing process and are great resources for any writer. Special shout out to the creators of JuNoWriMo, A.E. Howard and Becca J. Campbell.

And, this year, I was asked to be one of the sprint leader for JuNoWriMo and I am honored because the sprint leaders from last year made all the difference in the world in me not only writing 50,000 words, but writing an additional 25,000 to finish the novel.

We are just on day three, it’s not to late to sign up and join me every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm for some writing sprints. #junowrimo #wordsprints

Post to Ponder

June is for New Goals & JuNoWriMo by Felicia Scotzig – More JuNoWriMo motivation.

Writing is Best When we Get out of our own Way by Kristen Lamb – Kristen say writing fast helps keep us out of our own way.  Another yea for WriMo.

The Art of Milking a Critique by Jodi Thompson – Great tips if your ready to join a critique group.

  • Tina at Life is Good – Worlds Colliding – Space Opera meets Tom Clancy
  • Hunter – Blue Popcorn – Psychological Thriller – nationality and generational clashes.
  • Silver Lining – YA Romance – it was this line in her synopsis that got me, “She buys fries from the McDonald’s on Dover Street; he can buy the McDonald’s on Dover Street.”
  • Kate Larkindale – Stumped – YA Contemporary -It’s American Pie meets The Sessions as a 16-year-old double amputee struggles to dump the burden of his virginity.
