Another New Life News!

facebookcover Reviews

My debut novel has been out for two months now and it has been an emotional roller coaster. I’ve been riding the wave and holding on tight, trying not to get too up or too down. Good, reviews, not so good, reviews and great reviews, it all comes with the territory.

Through all the emotions, I discovered my absolute favorite thing is getting messages from readers who tell me how my books effected them. It’s amazing to hear how my work touched their heart.

Thanks so much to everyone who has read and reviewed Another New Life. I appreciate it.

She does this every day. Without fail. Dr. Blake just doesn’t fit into her schedule. Until he does. Until Callie begins to trust him. Until she starts to need him. And want him. And . . .

Checked Promo 1

Excerpt:

Calista. That quiet voice pulls me around yet again.

I freeze. He’s looking at me. Sorrowful eyes…heavy…inconsolable. A tragedy in blue.

I can’t look away. I begin to feel a dull ache in my left side. {Damien Rice fills my head with “The Blower’s Daughter.”}

His eyes hold mine. They are relentless. The sharpening pain in my side weighs me down, cementing my shoes to their place on the floor. My lips part slightly as my body tries to remember to breathe.

In slow motion almost, he releases me, closing his eyes and clenching them shut. The blue eyes that open back up to me are hard, stony.

He swiftly spins his chair to grab the box of tissues on his bookshelf. Without meeting my eyes, he turns back around and holds the box out to me.

To help you out of here, he says in an almost inaudible voice. What?

Th-thank you, I stammer. I clutch my purse and take six slow steps toward his desk. Three steps at a time. One two three. One two three.

He stares past me, blankly looking at the door. I pull three white tissues from the box he’s holding and turn back to his point of focus. When I get to the silver doorknob, I quickly cover it with the three tissues spread out in my left hand.

And I’m out.

Synopsis:

We weren’t a relationship, we were a ticking time bomb…

Maggie Carpenter walked away from the hottest encounter of her life when she left the seductive glitz of England for summer break in her South Carolina hometown. Now that she’s returned to the International School in London—and sexy, privileged Samir Khouri is once again close enough to touch—she can’t help but remember the attraction, the drama … the heartbreak.

She can’t help but want him even more.

Samir can’t afford to fall for someone so far removed from his world, not when his time in London is running out. It’s his senior year—his last chance at freedom before he returns home to Lebanon. There, he’ll be expected to follow in his father’s footsteps—not follow his heart to Maggie. But when a scorching secret hookup becomes a temptation neither can resist, they’ll both have to fight to survive the consequences … and find a future together.

Don’t miss this explosive sequel to I See London, and the riveting conclusion to Maggie and Samir’s story. This is a New Adult romance recommended for readers 17 and up.

Sydney Reviews Love, Lex by Avery Aster

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

20567976Synopsis: This summer, I’d planned to celebrate my eighteenth birthday in Europe with my fellow Manhattanites—Taddy Brill, Blake Morgan, and Vive Farnworth—until I caught my boyfriend screwing my mother. According to the police report, this vomit-inducing incident happened around the same time I’d supposedly blown-up my mother’s penthouse. Like I’m walking around Soho with a stick of dynamite in my Louis Vuitton purse—not! Now, my besties and I are in jail.Officer Ford Gotti, the Harley-wheelin’ biker cop who arrested us, keeps sticking his perfectly-sculpted nose into my case. His inked body is jacked like a superhero, and he says I can trust him. He wants me to fess up. I won’t. Not again. Why should I? My friends and I had a previous stint in juvie that nearly destroyed us. I gotta protect them and keep my mouth shut. Right? —Lex Easton, women’s studies major, motorcycle enthusiast, and virgin. The Undergrad Years is a New Adult contemporary miniseries about first loves, independence, and everlasting friendships.

Reader warning: Contains mature content intended for readers 17 and up.

Review: Sometimes I read a book and enjoy it for its bookness and sometimes I read a book and wish it was opening in my local mega theater this Friday. Love, Lex is the latter. I loved it. As I read it, I keep reading faster and faster. It had a real Sin City feel to it. You know the movie by Quentin Tarantino, Frank Miller & Robert Rodriquez. Any one of them would be perfect in bring this book to the big screen.
The heat level started off the chart on page one and built from their. I love books about crazy mega rich young adult. These kids had been through it and their loyalty, while tested, touched me.
The sex scene at the end was a bit of a jolt and kind of jarring, but it had a satisfying ending.

If you like your books written like a fast paced, hollywood exploitation film, check out Love, Lex by Avery Aster.

A few of my favorite things

Tattoo References: Officer God – With python arms wider than my thighs, his body reminded me of The Hulk right before  his clothes would shred and he’d turn green. Hot. Smothered in ink he sports a tattoo sleeve up and down his right arm. So hot!

Movie References:  Pearl Harbor, Legally Blonde, Star Wars & Post Cards from the Edge

Favorite Line:  “Strategic. Yup, he’s convinced I strategically placed the tanks around the apartment then lit a match. Honestly, I’m not that smart.”

“My confusion nearly paralyzed me. Did my two friends lose their minds? We’d gone from hugging besties to face-slapping frienemies and now horny girls on the prowl. WTF.”
