Every one know what feels like to vomit, but did you know there are three different types of vomit triggers?
There is the spoiled food or drink trigger.
There is the inebriated or hung over trigger.
There is the emotional trauma induced trigger.
Miranda experienced the later.
I lost it. My insides clutched together like in a vise and my whole body convulsed as I threw up breakfast and lunch. After I had emptied my stomach, my body continued to dry heave and shake. I willed myself to stop before I hurt myself. I wiped the sweat out of my eyes and tried to stand up straight. Dizziness took over, and I grabbed the tree again.
When the dizziness and panic subsided, all I had left were tears. Hot, thick tears fell from my eyes. I didn’t bother wiping them away. I took one step forward while still holding on to the branch for support. I took another step and confident I could walk on my own. I let go. I walked past the party and down the street. I turned left at the corner and then took off in a sprint.
What triggered the last time you . . ., you know?
Here is the character sketch on my male MC – Troy Anderson.
Role in Story: Miranda childhood best friend and love interest in college.
Physical Description: 6’2, 200 pounds, quarterback for the UT Longhorns. Dirty blonde, shaggy hair, athletic build, vivid green eyes and beautiful hands.
Habits/Mannerisms: Polite, well mannered guy. Treats women very well. Focused on his craft, drama turns him off, and he sees the good in people, first. He doesn’t handle conflict well, as avoids it.
Background: He red shirted his first year and in his sophomore year, he is the back up quarterback and gets to play a few games when starting quarterback get’s injured. Highly recruited in high school and everyone expects him to go to the NFL. He isn’t close to his family and his friends are his family. He has an older half brother, but they haven’t seen each other in years.
Internal Conflicts: Living up to expectations
External Conflicts: Get Miranda to give them a chance and forgive him for not protecting her when they were kids.
My favorite Quote: “Well, it just makes sense.” He rubbed his lips against mine. “We’re supposed to be together.”
What do you think of my male MC? Do you do character sketches?
I’m not sure why I am having such a hard time with S. S is a great letter and Another New Life is full of ‘S’ themes to talk about.
I could have written about the secrets in the book, but if I did that you wouldn’t need to read it.
I could share a sex scene, but the idea makes my cheek turn red and that takes some effort. I can write a pretty good sex scene, but I’d rather leave you to read it in the context of the book and in he privacy of your own Kindle/Nook/iPad. No need for gratuitous sex scenes on my blog. haha.
I could writer about siblings, but my main character is an only child and if I talk about other siblings in the book, then I would be revealing a secret and then I would have to delete the whole post and start all over again.
So, how is this for a random fact about Another New Life. I reference the number seven, seventeen & seventy more then any other numbers in the entire MS. Not sure the significants, my favorite number is 8.
What has been your hardest letter during A to Z, so far?
I mentioned before how Miranda’s roommate, Darcy is a hopeless romantic and is looking for love. She has a pretty idealistic attitude when it comes to this love thing.
Some of her relationship advice:
“Never date Arkansas boys, only date Texas men. Arkansas boys may have farming money and ranching money, but Texas men have oil money. Enough said.”
“I may be from a small town, but even I know better then to try and intellectualize love. Love is love. That’s it.”
“This is the first big social situation for the soon-to-be epic relationship that is Troy and Miranda. It wouldn’t hurt you to wear something with a little color in it.”
“Get it over with; come on, Randa, this is supposed to be fun.”
“I ‘ve dreamed of finding the perfect guy to sweep me off my feet since I can remember. And I know that makes me sound totally pathetic, but I don’t care. I want a boyfriend who loves and adores me. Someone who not only wants to hang out with me, but prefers it.” She stared off into the unknown. “I want someone who inspires me and who’s proud to be with me.”
What do you think about Darcy’s ideas about relationships and love?
Check out my friend, Rebecca J. Campbell’s Blog where I visit for the day discussing my Road to Publication for Another New Life.
I was going to share my MC’s greatest quotes, but I decided to help Paige Rion out and turn my Q post over to her. Check it out here. I get her back by taking her U post, next week.
But, I still have a few choice quotes from my male MC Troy Anderson to share with you.
“I remember everything you say to me.”
“I haven’t heard your voice in eight years, and I like the way it sounds.”
“I can’t believe we waited so long to do that.”
“We’ll… work… something… out,” Troy spoke between kisses. “We’ll steal Ryan’s notes.”
“That I want to be with you.”
“If you ask me, we haven’t moved fast enough.”
“Listen, if it takes you a little while longer to get to where I’m at, that’s fine. I’ll wait.”
Troy is such a great guy, but trust me, he’s not perfect. Do your favorite lines still get to you, even after you’ve read them 400 times?
