This is the first time in my life where I think, I might not be nerdy enough. Did you see how many Happy Potter action figures Cassie Mae has purchases. I will give it a try and you should to.
Congratulations to Cassie Mae on the release of her YA Romance novel, How to Date a Nerd. I don’t usually read YA, but I am looking forward to reading this book. I love Cassie’s NA stuff and the premise of this book sounds really cool nerdy fun.
Now the rules, very nerdy, I know:
Post an answer to this question: What is the nerdiest thing about you?
Post the blog hop picture on your post and on your sidebar.

What is the nerdiest thing about me?
I am a Dallas Cowboys Fan. I have been all my life. I was particularly nerdy about them during the 1997-1998 season. It was two year after the last of their three Super Bowl wins. I went to a total of 12 games that season. All home games and 4 away games (New York, DC, Green Bay & Philadelphia).
Every star on team had a radio or television show in the Dallas market and you could find me in the audience of one or more every week.
I collected every newspaper from the day after each game of that season and kept them in plastic bags.
I have a series of three photos of Troy Aikman during that time:
- The first one is of him waving at me as I took the photo at a radio show.
- The second one is of him at a game
looking in my general directionlooking for me in the stands. - The third I actually made it in the photo at the opening of a grocery store.
I collected cups, key chains, posters, magazine articles and I have an unusual amount of beer coasters with random Cowboy player autographs on them. I have them all in a trunk in my parents attic marked Cowboy Stuff, Do NOT Throw Away!!!!
And, if that wasn’t nerdy enough, I wrote an entire 30,000 word (approx. I hand wrote it in my journal) manuscript–dialogue only–of an embarrassingly passionate romance between Troy Aikman and some girl named Sydney (It’s not me, I swear. ;-)).
Here’s a short excerpt:
“Do you love football more than me?” “No. Do you love being a lawyer more then you love me.” “No, but being a lawyer isn’t my passion, football is yours.” “I have room for more than one passion in my life.” “Oh, Troy.” “I love you, Syd.” “I love you, too.”*OMG, someone please tell me I’ve gotten better at this.

So, there you have it. Am I a nerd or what? It’s your turn, what is the nerdiest thing about you?
Never would have thought of being a football fan as being nerdy. I would think I’m more of a nerd for not liking football. If I had participated in this bloghop I couldn’t have fit my nerdiness in one post–I would have had to have done a series.

Tossing It Out
I think being a fan is ok, being obsessive and how I expressed my obsession bordered on nerdy. haha.
I’m with you on the series thing. I didn’t find out about this hop in time, but honestly, I’d have to make it a ten-part series, with the first three parts being just about Star Wars.
Great idea and fun!
I hear you. Nerdiness knows no bounds.
You win! That is nerdy dedication.
Haha. It get’s nerdier every time I read it. It’s a wonder I got anything done in that year. I did manage to apply to law school and get in, so all good.
I think my Lisa Frank addiction in third grade was one of the nerdiest phases that I ever went through. Currently: I love beta reading for people and using the comment function. For some reason that’s happy time for me, and it’s so nerdy because a lot of it is just editing!
Beta Reading because of the comment function. That’s funny and kind of nerdy. Haha.
My favorite part was what you said for the second photo of Troy Aikman. lol
What I find ironic is that you wrote a romance story about Troy and Sydney 😉 because I am in the middle of writing a romantic-suspense story inspired by Jeff Hardy. Hmm . . . I guess I am nerdier than I thought. :p
We can’t help where inspiration comes from.
Your excerpt was a lot of fun!
Thanks Nick. Not to embarrassing. 🙂
I am a Texans fan, but pull for the Cowboys when they aren’t playing each other.
So instead of doilies, you collect Cowboys stuff. You go girl!
My wife has a thing for Troy also, what is it with him?
I don’t know. It’s everything. Haha.
I love you’re writing sample – early fan fiction? Seriously, that’s the beauty of nerdism. It allows us to love whatever weird thing we love and to get passionate about it. I have no sports nerdism at all, but my husband who’s a creative director at an agency always says his favorite sports team is the Dallas Cowboys. Why? Because he loves their logo 🙂
I love the star, too.
My husband is a Cowboys fan too. Which is a little odd considering where we grew up. (North Dakota). I think it’s hilarious how he came to be a Cowboys fan though. When he was a kid, his older brother was a Steelers fan. So like any good little brother who likes to create problems, he chose to like the team who was the Steelers’ biggest competitor at that time: The Cowboys.
And it stuck.
I don’t think we have as much stuff as you do, but we still have enough Cowboys things, including about 4 jerseys.
Go Cowboys. 🙂
Wow, I imagine we have few fans from North Dakota. But, that’s a great reason to be a fan. Rivalries are important. Happy your husband is on the right side if this one.
That is SO funny!! Funny in a good way. I love it. I was never a football fan, but I can relate with other things. I once wrote story of a love affair with Legolas from LOTR. LOL
Haha. OMG, I wrote a short story about Orlando Bloom and his internal conflict because he was afraid to star in movies unless his character was wielding a sword or a bow and arrow. He turned down dramatic parts after dramatic part and quit the business when he didn’t get the part in Peter Jackson’s Homer Odyssey. Alright, I’m a big nerd. Haha
Oh I LOVE FOOTBALL NERDS!!!! Oh my gosh I want to hug you. I wrote a love story with me and Ron Weasley. But I don’t share that with many people… lol!
