It appears this movie is either loved or hated. And, those who hate it do so because it hits so close to home.
I though it was great. Honest and messy and raw and unexpected, with great dialogue. Bradley Cooper is greatness. DeNiro as always is greatness. Jennifer Lawrence on the cusp of greatness.
Yeah, I liked the movie.

You are so right about people not liking it because it hits too close to home. I saw this with a friend and we were both squirming in our seats. It was that uncomfortable for us. Because we have very messed up families! I loved Jennifer Lawrence’s character in the movie. She was the only thing that got me through it. Then again, I’m not a Bradley Cooper fan. Don’t judge me. 🙂

I know! I’m so sorry, but he just doesn’t do it for me. My friend is in love with him, so she was pretty disappointed 1) that I don’t share her feelings, and 2) that she didn’t like the movie.

I like the third and seventh quotes by Jennifer Lawrence’s “Tiffany” character, that you posted. I like the last quote from Bradley Cooper’s “Pat” character as well….yet, I haven’t seen the movie. To tell you the truth, I was only slightly interested in watching it but just never got up the interest to actually go and check it out. Now that Jennifer’s getting all of these accolades and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the film, I sorta want to rent it whenever it’s available on Netflix.
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the dialogue sounds strong. Thanks for the heads up about the messiness – sometimes it helps to be in the right mood for something like that.

I loved Silver Linings Playbook because it was realistic, but at the same it delivered powerful messages. The performances by Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper were excellent! One of the best films of 2012.
