Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh comes up with the greatest Blogfests. I am excited to participate in yet another one. Genre Favorites Blogfest.
List your favorite genre: Movie Music Books And a guilty pleasure genre from any of the three categories!Click the badge to the right to visit other Blogfest participants.
A quick disclaimer to this blog post. I have been staring at this blank screen for hours trying to narrow down my favorite genres in each section. It is so hard for someone who seems to like any and everything. I like my diverse taste in entertainment. I just want to make sure you realize and understand how difficult this was for me. Feel my pain. OK, we are ready to continue.
Movies: My favorite genre in movies is Science Fiction
Examples – Star Wars, Matrix, The Terminator,
Music: My favorite genre in music is Hip Hop and R&B and any groups that touch on that genre in any way, shape or form.
Example – Jay Z, Beyonce, TI, Linkin Park
Books: My favorite genre in books is Suspense/Mystery. I include a lot of different types of books into the category. You might not agree, but I don’t care. haha.
Examples – Stephen King, James Patterson, John Grisham, Dan Brown
Guilty Pleasure: My favorite guilty pleasure in music is boy bands. Old and new.
Examples – NSync, New Edition, 112, One Direction (newest obsessions)
I swear I am not a 12 year old girl, but I love this song, especially with the 50’s Grease soundtrack sample.
These are my favorite genres. What are yours?
Looks fun. I might participate.
It is fun. Please do.
Can’t go wrong with science fiction movies! And have you ever read any Preston and Child books? You might enjoy them.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!
Hey Alex. I have not. I will check them out. Keep creating them and I will keep participating in them.
I had a difficult time trying to narrow my favorites down as well. I mean sometimes my favorites change from day to day.
I know. Blame Alex for my early morning mental headache, but I think I did pretty good.
I think you did pretty good too. I must take part in some blogfests.. Love sci fi. Think I have the same guilty pleasure at times and I’m 40 years older than a 12 year old.. Like that song. oops!!
Sci-fi movies! Right below my Kidult obsession and side-by-side with fantasy.
Star Wars (And Vader) Rocks. Hands down.
we were all 12 year old girls once in our lives… wink! great stuff!
You to Jeremy?
I do love me some Star Wars – saw it in the theaters when I was a kid. 😉
Great post. 🙂
Unfortunately I saw the redone versions in the theater but have seen the originals on VHS. I love all versions of the movie and it’s my favorite DVD collection.
I do like Star Wars and Matrix. I never see them as science fiction, though I not sure what I would call them.
I lump anything with futuristic and mechanical as sci fi. But definitely part fantasy with the made up creatures.
We have the same favorite movie genre 🙂 and boy bands is definitely a guilty pleasure of me too 😉
Hi Sylvia, great minds think alike.
Love Star Wars and Terminator, I also like that One Direction song too!! 🙂

Hey Alyssa, you have good taste. I love your name. I am always looking for strong character names.
Hi, Sydney,
Sci-Fi seems to be an overwhelming favourite for a lot of people.
I do enjoy rap music too and mystery/suspense.
Nice to meet you.
Hi J.L., Yeah, a lot of sci-fi geeks out there. Nice meeting you, too.
Sci-fi is my favourite as well. You gotta love Star Wars!
Hey Allison. Star Wars is great. Started my real appreciation for sci fi movies.
It’s fun to see others who like the things I like. I LOVE the beautiful song. Heard it for first time this summer; can’t hear it enough now.
I know. I have been singing it all summer long. Start my workouts with it every day.
Great list! I know several women who still enjoy boy bands.
Yeah. Apparently I am not alone.
haha…loved your disclaimer!! I felt the same way. It was so hard to choose. 🙂
Stephen King is awesome. A ton of people have mentioned him on this blog hop. King fans unite!
There is a reason he has sold millions. He is brilliant.
My sis-in-law is crazy over Take That – in particular – Robbie Williams! Although, I doubt they count as ‘boys’ anymore 🙂 I too love sci-fi movies, although struggle reading it? I really don’t understand whay that it? Its the same with biographies – (I snore while reading the same one I’d adore if watching in film?). Great list!
Hey Shah, sorry for the late reply. You got caught in spam for some reason. I didn’t know about Take That until Robbie Williams already went solo. I know what you mean about reading the books first the movies in some genres. I am trying to expand my mind by reading different genres.
Fun! I think I’ll participate later this evening. Thanks for sharing. New Edition didn’t make your boy band list? 😉
I mentioned New Edition. I actually saw them in concert 4 times. They were my first love.
I must have missed it. Loved their music. My first boy band crush went to Menudo’s Robbie Rosa. LOL! I followed that up with a NKOTB crush on Jordan Knight…oddly enough, that’s not my guilty pleasure, though…Ha!
I liked Joey. He was to cute.
HA…this was funny : “I swear I am not a 12 year old girl, but I love this song, especially with the 50′s Grease soundtrack sample.” LOVE IT!!!! Great post!! 🙂
Thanks Lynn.
Great choices! Boy bands are always fun. From waaaaaay back I loved the Osmonds and Jackson 5 growing up 🙂
I was into the Jackson 5. Now so much the Osmonds. What about Menudo?
This is way too much fun! I’m going to have to play along next week. I especially love getting to know you a bit more! Boy bands? Who knew. Well, now we all do! 😉
Haha.
Hip hop makes me dance and mysteries are wonderful:)
I agree. Thanks M.J.
I used to LOVE James Patterson, but it now feels like he just churns out stories without caring about quality. I mean, he never even writes his books any more.
Hey Misha, yeah, I am partial to the Alex Cross series and then his early books that he wrote himself. All the newest ones he is collaborating with so many people it is a different voice.
Great Science Fiction movies are always enjoyale and King is a master 🙂
King is the best.
Dropping by from the Genre Blogfest.
I was a Backstreet Boys fan in years gone by, and when I’m feeling particularly cheesy I fire them up on my iTunes. Love the Sci Fi too! 🙂
I never like the Backstreet Boys because I was an Nsync fan and in my crew, you weren’t allowed to like them both. Kind of like Twilight’s team edward and team jacob. 😉
You have some fantastic choices. I love Linkin Park, Stephen King and James Patterson too.
Thanks for stopping by.
